Storing your shoes the bottom of a wardrobe is fine but they can become untidy and disorganised very quickly. These slide-out shoe racks may not suit every situation but they are a nifty storage idea worth of a mention at least, particularly if you need to make the most of the space you have?
There are a number of specialists offering this kind of unit but you’ll find a fair selection on eBay and Amazon too. They are available in a range of designs but in principle there are just a couple of types – vertical units that fit to one side of a wardrobe or horizontal units which fix to both sides.
This pull-out rack is available in a 3 or 5 tier form and also with a left or right handed fixing. It’s ideal for making the most of a narrow cupboard space and is easy to fit. Prices vary from around £52 to £99.
This 3 tier rack is a similar design priced at around £70 and, again, fits neatly to the side of a cupboard wall. The advantage of this style of rack is that they’ll fit to just about any size of cupboard space.
Alternatively, this horizontal basket fixes at both sides of a wardrobe and is available to fit a standard 600mm or 800 mm unit. They can be bought individually and used as a single rack or tiered to accommodate as many as you need. Priced at around £37 each, this kind of rack should be more sturdy but because of the fixed sizing there use is limited to standard sized wardrobes.
